Structural Manipulation of Ruthenium(II) Polypyridine Nitrone Complexes to Generate Phosphorogenic Bioorthogonal Reagents for Selective Cellular Labeling

We report a new class of ruthenium(II) polypyridine complexes functionalized with a nitrone group as phosphorogenic bioorthogonal probes. These complexes were very weakly emissive owing to rapid C=N isomerization of the nitrone moiety, but exhibited significant emission enhancement upon strain‐promoted alkyne–nitrone cycloaddition (SPANC) reaction with bicyclo[6.1.0]nonyne (BCN)‐modified substrates. The modification of nitrone with a dicationic ruthenium(II) polypyridine unit at the α‐C‐position and a phenyl ring at the N‐position led to remarkably accelerated reaction kinetics, which are substantially greater (up to ≈278 fold) than those of other acyclic nitrone–BCN systems. Interestingly, the complexes achieved specific cell membrane/cytosol staining upon specific labeling of an exogenous substrate, BCN‐modified decane (BCN‐C10), in live cells. Importantly, the in situ generation of the more lipophilic isoxazoline adduct in the cytoplasm resulted in increased cytotoxicity, highlighting a novel approach to apply the SPANC labeling technique in drug activation.     

Catalytic Asymmetric Bromination of Unfunctionalized Olefins with H2O as a Nucleophile

The dimeric cinchona alkaloid (DHQD)₂PHAL is used to catalyze an effective asymmetric bromohydroxylation of unfunctionalized olefins with H₂O as nucleophile an N‐bromobenzamide as a bromine source. A variety of optically active bromohydrins are formed with up to 88 % ee.     

Copper‐Catalyzed Difunctionalization of Activated Alkynes by Radical Oxidation–Tandem Cyclization/Dearomatization to Synthesize 3‐Trifluoromethyl Spiro[4.5]trienones

A copper‐catalyzed difunctionalizing trifluoromethylation of activated alkynes with the cheap reagent sodium trifluoromethanesulfinate (NaSO₂CF₃ or Langlois’ reagent) has been developed incorporating a tandem cyclization/dearomatization process. This strategy affords a straightforward route to synthesis of 3‐(trifluoromethyl)‐spiro[4.5]trienones, and presents an example of difunctionalization of alkynes for simultaneous formation of two carbon–carbon single bonds and one carbon–oxygen double bond.     

EAST ������ICRF ���ߵ���ά��ų�����

The performance of the four strap ion cyclotron range of frequency (ICRF) antenna in EAST was studied by three dimensional electromagnetic code CST MWS. The coupling impedance with various frequencies, the distribution of current on straps and the power spectra for the three types of phases were calculated. The voltage breakdown and ICRF-related impurity were also studied. Simulation results show that the coupling impedance and power spectrum of the antenna design were reasonable, however, highest electric field, which is 3.61MV•m⁻¹ for (0, 0, 0, 0) toroidal phasing at the local area, exceeds the empirical value of breakdown. After the structure size was optimized, the maximum of E-field was below the breakdown value, the results also show that the high radio frequency (RF) potential was close to the antenna limiter, the RF potential along total B-field in front of Faraday screens 10mm for (0, π, π, 0) phasing was one-third of that for (0, 0, π, π) phasing.

Nanosized Carbon Macrocycles Based on a Planar Chiral Pseudo Meta-[2.2]Paracyclophane

Structural designs combining cycloparaphenylenes (CPPs) backbone with planar chiral [2.2]paracyclophane ([2.2]PCP) lead to optical-active chiral macrocycles with intriguing properties. X-ray crystal analysis revealed aesthetic necklace-shaped structures and size-dependent packages with long-range channels. The macrocycles exhibit unique photophysical properties with high fluorescence quantum yield of up to 82 %, and the fluorescent color varies with ring size. In addition, size-dependent chiroptical properties with moderately large CPL dissymmetry factor of 10⁻³ and CPL brightness in the range of 30–40 M⁻¹ cm⁻¹ were observed.
